What is Powerflushing?

We carry out central heating powerflushes across Harrow, Stanmore, Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Luton, Dunstable, Tring and surrounding areas. If your radiators have cold spots, your system is noisy, or your boiler keeps cutting out, a powerflush removes the sludge and debris causing the problem. We add inhibitor after every flush to protect the system going forward.

Using specialised equipment, we pump a powerful cleaning solution through your entire heating system at high velocity, dislodging and flushing out years of accumulated debris.

Signs You Need a Powerflush

🌡️

Cold Spots on Radiators

Especially at the bottom, indicating sludge buildup.

🐢

Slow to Heat Up

Radiators take a long time to reach full temperature.

🔊

Noisy System

Banging, gurgling, or kettling sounds from your boiler.

🔄

Frequent Bleeding

Needing to bleed radiators regularly.

💧

Dirty Bleed Water

Brown or black water when bleeding radiators.

⚠️

Boiler Cutting Out

Boiler keeps shutting down or showing error codes.

Benefits of Powerflushing

Improved heating efficiency - warmer radiators
Lower energy bills - less fuel wasted
Extended boiler lifespan
Quieter operation - no more banging
Reduced risk of breakdowns
Often required before new boiler installation

Our Powerflush Process

  1. Assessment - We inspect your system and test radiators to identify problem areas.
  2. Setup - Connect our powerflush machine to your heating system.
  3. Cleaning - Pump cleaning chemicals through at high velocity to dislodge debris.
  4. Individual Radiator Flush - Each radiator is flushed individually for thorough cleaning.
  5. Neutralise & Protect - Add neutraliser and corrosion inhibitor to protect your system.
  6. Test - Check all radiators are heating evenly and efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

A powerflush is a deep clean of your central heating system. Using a specialist machine, we pump a cleaning solution through your boiler, pipes and radiators at high velocity to remove the sludge, rust and debris that builds up over time. The result is a system that heats up faster, runs more efficiently and puts less strain on your boiler.

Common signs include radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top, some radiators that never get warm, a boiler that keeps cutting out, noisy pipework or a boiler that runs but the house does not heat up properly. If you are noticing any of these, a powerflush is often the fix.

Our powerflush service starts from £350. The final price depends on the number of radiators and the condition of the system. We will give you a fixed price before we start.

Most powerflushing jobs take between four and eight hours depending on the size of the system and how heavily it is contaminated. We will be able to give you a better estimate once we have had a look at your setup.

In most cases, yes. Sludge and debris is the most common cause of cold radiators and an inefficient heating system, and a powerflush clears it out effectively. If there is an underlying fault with a specific radiator or the boiler itself, we will flag it during the job.

Gas Safe Register is the official, government-approved list of engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas appliances and installations in the UK. It replaced CORGI in 2009. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered, which matters because a powerflush involves working directly on your gas boiler.

We cover Harrow, Wembley, Pinner, Stanmore and Kenton as our core North West London area, plus Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Luton and the surrounding areas.
